FQP-2012 W4AN Route Details

Jeff (KU8E) posted on the FQP websute a detailed turn-by-turn description of the W4AN route that he and John (K4BAI) will be traveling. From the information that Jeff posted it was easy to construct Google Maps of their route for each day.  Google provides links on those maps from which the sequence of lat/lons for the route may be downloaded. Downloading that file into CQ/X allows it to compute the lat/lon of the county line crossing points as well as the distance of each traverse of a county, and provides a means of exporting the information as a KML file for presentation on the web as shown below. For a given day choose the View Larger Map and once the larger map comes up you will see a place marker for each county line crossing and if you click on a county the driving distance across the county along the specified path will be shown. In some cases (see for example their excursion into Lafayette on Sunday) there will be multiple traverses of a county. Use the Next link in the balloon to see the distance of each traverse.
